Community Voice and Justice Programme

Strengthening the leadership, voice, and policy influence of migrant and ethnically minoritised communities across Scotland.

Why this programme matters

Many migrant and ethnically minoritised communities experience structural barriers in accessing services, participating in civic life, and influencing policies that affect their wellbeing. These barriers often lead to social exclusion, mistrust of institutions, and limited representation in decision-making spaces. The Community Voice and Justice Programme seeks to address these challenges by strengthening community leadership and ensuring lived experience informs policy and practice.

How we create change

The programme works through four key approaches:

  • Community leadership development and advocacy training
  • Community policy forums connecting communities with decision-makers
  • Participatory research with academic partners
  • Sharing learning nationally to influence policy and practice
Partnerships

The programme works collaboratively with universities, community organisations, and policy stakeholders to ensure community insights contribute to research, policy dialogue, and institutional change.

Our work supports communities experiencing inequality to shape decisions that affect their lives and contribute to fairer and more inclusive systems across Scotland
